Sydney Hearing Clinic custom-made ear plugs can be used for:

  1. Better quality sleep: custom-made sleep plugs effectively reduce external noise, be it snoring or just a noisy neighbourhood, to support a healthy sleep without interruptions.
  2. Swimming: If you are a regular swimmer, an adult custom ear plug will protect you from possible and reoccurring ear infections which can be caused by water and sand entering your ear canals regularly. Swim ear plugs can also prevent conditions such as surfer's ear.
    Children with grommets, glue ear, or that suffer consistent ear infection are highly recommended to have custom swim plugs. The plugs will greatly reduce the risk of infection/re-infection.
  3. Musician: Custom-made musician ear plugs protect your hearing from the loud, continuous music you are regularly exposed to in your job or hobby, but still let you enjoy the music. Musician plugs use specialised acoustic filters can provide up to a 25 decibel reduction of overall sound without compromising the quality of the music.
  4. Noise blocking plugs: Noise induced hearing loss is irreversible, but it can be prevented which is why using hearing protection is so important.

Noise blocking plugs are beneficial if you go to concerts, noisy nightclubs or bars, amd can reduce noise by up to 40 decibels.
These noise blocking plugs are also ideal in preventing industrial deafness.
Your custom-made ear plug appointment will start with a detailed consultation of your individual needs and what kind of plug/s will suit you best.

Our audiologist will take moulds of your ears to ensure the plugs fit comfortably and securely. At Sydney Hearing Clinic we use only medical-grade, hypo-allergenic audiology silicone for the moulds.

The silicone moulds and custom order specification instructions are then sent to a specialised local producer of custom-made ear plugs to be made in medical-grade, durable, and hypo-allergenic clear acrylic. For ease of use, right ear plugs will be marked with a small red dot, left plugs are marked with a blue dot.

All custom-made plugs require a 10 business-day turnaround and come with a 60 day warranty.
For blue pension card holders, this service is free of charge. There is no Medicare rebate for custom-made ear plugs.
